Description

20th century British Colonial Anglo Indian plantation chair. Made from teak in mortise and tenon joinery with a relaxed lounged frame and long extendable arms. Features a relaxed swoop seat with caning throughout. The frame is supported by turned legs leading to arrow feet

There's nothing better than putting your feet up after a day's backbreaking work. In the 19th century, plantation owners used a specific chair. Called, naturally enough, the planter's chair, the wooden frame had a deep seat and long sloping back made from woven rattan or cane to allow air flow. What really marked it out were the extended armrests which enabled you to sling your legs over them.

Condition

Good Vintage Condition; some marking from use and age, very small break to cane along back, not structural
