The Knapp joint was was pioneered during the late Victorian Era in post Civil War United States by Charles Knapp. A significant advancement in the furniture industry as it allowed drawers to be made by machine instead of hand. It quickly propelled furniture production from about 20 drawers a day to 250! The Knapp joint was in production from 1870-1900 making it a somewhat rare find. It is also known as Pin & Cove. Pin & Scallop and Half Moon joinery.
