Circa 1880s American Golden Oak Dresser. Features 3 drawers with intricate brass hardware. Each drawer shows Knapp Joint construction. The Knapp joint was was pioneered during the late Victorian Era in post Civil War United States by Charles Knapp. A significant advancement in the furniture industry as it allowed drawers to be made by machine instead of hand. It quickly propelled furniture production from about 20 drawers a day to 250! The Knapp joint was in production from 1870-1900 making it a somewhat rare find. It is also known as Pin & Cove. Pin & Scallop and Half Moon joinery.
This dresser also includes a neat backsplash and show fluting along the drawers and frame. A nice compliment to any setting.
