Horst Egon Kalinowski was bon in Germany in 1924

He studied at the Art Academy in his hometown Düsseldorf from 1945 to 1948. A stay of several years in Italy followed. In the early 1950s he moved to Paris, where his first gallery exhibition took place.

In 1972 Kalinowski became a professor at the Karlsruhe Academy of Fine Arts, a position he held until his retirement. One of the artist’s characteristic features is his experimentation with different materials, which he composed for collages and object boxes.
